FAQ

What is a Functional Medicine Nutritionist?
A Functional Nutritionist takes a holistic approach to health by incorporating food, sleep, stress, fitness and toxic environmental factors, in an effort to reduce and cure chronic disease.
How is a Functional Nutritionist different from my regular doctor?
Functional nutrition identifies the root cause of illness instead of just managing symptoms with prescription drugs. Another difference between functional and conventional nutrition is personalization. Functional nutrition focuses on the patient instead of the disease.
How do I get started with a nutrition consultation?
You can request an appointment online by selecting Nutrition Consultation – Initial. Additionally, you can call or email to set up the appointment. After a date and time are arranged we will send you the intake paperwork.
Are virtual nutrition consultations an option?
Yes, we conduct virtual nutrition consultations via Zoom.
Does the paperwork need to be completed before the nutrition consultation?
It is important that all requested forms and questionnaires be completed and returned to us at least 24 hours before your initial consultation. This allows time for review, research and preparation of a customized treatment plan. Failure to return paperwork will result in the cancellation/rescheduling of your consultation.
What can I expect at the initial nutrition consultation?
The initial consultation is complimentary and will last about an hour. The nutritionist will discuss the results of your questionnaires. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and will leave with a comprehensive treatment plan.
Will there be follow up meetings?
You will have access to us via email, text or phone to address any questions that may arise during the duration of your treatment plan. We charge a fee of $75 for each additional meeting – in person or via Zoom.
When can I expect to feel better?
This is difficult to say because each person is unique with their own genetic makeup, health history and lifestyle. Most clients report an improvement in symptoms within a few weeks – if they stick with the plan.
Does the nutritionist work with children?
Yes, we typically work with children ages 13 and up.
Do you accept insurance for nutrition programs?
No, we do not accept insurance. The exception to this is our Organic Acid testing which is usually covered by most insurance plans. However, many find that it is cheaper to pay out-of-pocket.
Can I use my Health Savings Account (HSA)?
We can provide you with a letter of medical necessity signed by the doctor. This will allow you to be reimbursed by your HSA provider.
